Foro de AWID: Co-creando futuros feministas
En septiembre de 2016, 1800 feministas y activistas por los derechos de las mujeres de todos los rincones de nuestros movimientos se congregaron en las costas de Bahia, en el 13º Foro Internacional de AWID.
En esta sección se destacan los logros, los aprendizajes y los recursos que surgieron de las ricas conversaciones mantenidas. Te invitamos a analizar, compartir y comentar.
¿Qué ha pasado desde 2016?
Uno de los aportes más importantes del Foro fue la necesidad de ampliar y profundizar nuestro trabajo entre movimientos, frente a la confluencia de los fascismos en auge, fundamentalismos, codicia corporativa y cambio climático.
Con esto en mente, AWID, en asociación con múltiples aliadxs, ha estado trabajando para que estas semillas de resistencia:

El vídeo «Defendiendo a las Personas y al Planeta» y la guía «Tejiendo la resistencia a través de la acción» estan protagonizados por defensoras de derechos humanos y presentan estrategias concretas para confrontar al poder corporativo

Con nuestras animaciones El estado de nuestros movimientos feministas y Justicia climática y ambiental, los movimientos ahora tienen herramientas creativas para apoyar su trabajo.

La compilación de las expresiones artísticas «Los Movimientos Importan», sigue inspirando una organización más fuerte y creativa en todo el mundo.

Los movimientos también pueden beneficiarse de nuevas metodologías para imaginar nuestros futuros feministas (¡pronto!)
AWID se ha comprometido, mediante su próximo plan estratégico y su proceso del Foro, a continuar y profundizar las relaciones, las lecciones y los procesos iniciados en el Foro 2016 y basándonos en el momento actual.

El mundo es un lugar muy diferente de lo que era un año atrás, y seguirá cambiando en los próximos años.
El próximo Foro de AWID se realizará en la región del Pacífico Asiático (el lugar y la fecha exactos serán anunciados en 2018). Esperamos que te unas a nosotrxs.

Sobre el Foro de AWID
Los Foros de AWID comenzaron en 1983 en Washington DC. Desde entonces, el evento ha crecido hasta convertirse en muchas cosas para muchas personas: un proceso iterativo para darle forma a nuestros análisis, objetivos y acciones; un hito crucial que fortalece los feminismos de lxs participantes e infunde energías a sus procesos de organización; un hogar político donde lxs defensoras de derechos humanos encuentran un santuario y solidaridad.

Construction d’économies féministes
La construction d’économies féministes a pour objet de créer un monde où l’air est respirable et l’eau buvable, où le travail est significatif et où nous bénéficions de soins pour nos communautés et nous-mêmes, où chacun-e peut jouir de son autonomie économique, sexuelle et politique.
Dans ce monde où nous vivons aujourd’hui, l’économie continue de s’appuyer sur le travail de soins non rémunéré et sous-évalué des femmes au service des autres. La poursuite de la “croissance” ne fait que développer l’extractivisme--un modèle de développement fondé sur l’extraction et l’exploitation massives des ressources naturelles, qui continue de détruire les populations et la planète tandis qu’elle concentre les richesses entre les mains des élites mondiales. Parallèlement, l’accès aux soins de santé, l’éducation, les salaires décents et la sécurité sociale sont réservés à une poignée de privilégiés. Ce modèle économique repose sur la suprématie blanche, le colonialisme et le patriarcat.
En adoptant la seule « approche pour l’autonomisation économiques des femmes», on ne fait guère qu’intégrer davantage les femmes dans ce système. Cela peut constituer un moyen temporaire de survie. Nous devons semer les graines d’un nouveau monde possible pendant que nous abattons les murs du monde existant.
Nous croyons en la capacité des mouvements féministes à créer de vastes alliances entre mouvements qui leur permettent d’oeuvrer pour le changement. En multipliant les propositions et visions féministes, nous cherchons à construire les nouveaux paradigmes d’économies plus justes.
Notre approche doit être interconnectée et intersectionnelle, car nous ne pourrons jouir d’aucune autonomie sexuelle et corporelle tant que chacun·e d’entre nous ne jouira pas de ses droits économique ni d’une autonomie financière. Nous voulons travailler avec celles et ceux qui s’opposent à la montée mondiale de la droite conservatrice et des fondamentalismes religieux et la contrent, car tant que nous n’aurons pas ébranlé les fondements même du système actuel, aucune économie ne saura être juste.
Nos Actions
Notre travail conteste le système de l’intérieur et met en évidence ses injustices fondamentales.

Promouvoir des programmes féministes : Nous nous opposons au pouvoir des entreprises et à l’impunité concernant les violations des droits humains en travaillant avec des allié-e-s afin de nous assurer que les perspectives féministes, relatives aux droit des femmes et à la justice de genre sont intégrées dans les espaces politiques. A titre d’exemple, vous pouvez vous informer sur le futur instrument juridiquement contraignant concernant “les sociétés transnationales et autres entreprises en matière de droits humains” au Conseil des droits humains des Nations Unies.

Mobiliser des actions solidaires : Nous oeuvrons à renforcer les liens qui existent entre les mouvements féministes et les mouvements en faveur de la justice fiscale, y compris à réclamer les ressources publiques perdues à cause de flux financiers illicites afin de garantir une justice de genre et sociale.

Enrichir nos connaissances : Nous fournissons aux Défenseuses des droits humains (WHRD) des informations stratégiques qui s’avèrent vitales dans la lutte contre le pouvoir des entreprises et l’extractivisme. Nous contribuerons à développer une base de connaissances autour du financement local et mondial et les mécanismes d’investissements qui alimentent l’extractivisme.

Créer et élargir les alternatives : Nous participons et mobilisons nos membres et nos mouvements à envisager des économies féministes et à partager nos savoirs, nos pratiques et nos programmes féministes en faveur d’une justice économique.

Rising Together: Connect, Heal, Thrive
The Forum theme––Rising Together––is an invitation to engage with our whole selves, to connect with each other in focused, caring and brave ways, so that we can feel the heartbeat of global movements and rise together to meet the challenges of these times.
Feminist, women’s rights, gender justice, LBTQI+ and allied movements around the world are at a critical juncture, facing a powerful backlash on previously-won rights and freedoms. Recent years have brought the rapid rise of authoritarianisms, the violent repression of civil society and criminalization of women and gender-diverse human rights defenders, escalating war and conflict in many parts of our world, the continued perpetuation of economic injustices, and the intersecting health, ecological and climate crises.
Our movements are reeling and, at the same time, seeking to build and maintain the strength and fortitude required for the work ahead. We can't do this work alone, in our silos. Connection and healing are essential to transforming persistent power imbalances and fault lines within our own movements. We must work and strategize in interconnected ways, so that we can thrive together. The AWID Forum fosters that vital ingredient of interconnectedness in the staying power, growth and transformative influence of feminist organizing globally.

Sexting Like a Feminist: Humor in the Digital Feminist Revolution
On September 2nd, 2021, the amazing feminist and social justice activists of AWID’s Crear | Résister | Transform festival came together not only to share resistance strategies, co-create, and transform the world, but also to talk dirty on Twitter.
The exercise was led by Nana Darkoa Sekyiamah, co-founder of the blog Adventures From The Bedrooms of African Women and author of The Sex Lives of African Women, who paired up with the Pan-Africanist digital queer womanist platform AfroFemHub, to ask the question: How can we safely and consensually explore our pleasure, desires, and fantasies via text?
Basically: How would a feminist sext?
I believe this is a critically important question because it looks at the larger issue of how one navigates the online world with a feminist understanding. Under capitalism, discourse around bodies and sex can be dehumanizing and distorting, and navigating sexual pleasure in virtual spaces can feel performative. So seeking out avenues where we can explore how we share our desire in ways that are affirming and enthusiastic can push back against dominant models of presentation and consumption to reclaim these spaces as sites for authentic engagement, proving that all sexting should be just that: feminist.
Plus, allowing feminist discourse to embody its playful side in online discourse helps reframe a popular narrative that feminist engagement is joyless and dour. But as we know, having fun is part of our politics, and an inherent part of what it means to be feminist.
Using the hashtag #SextLikeAFeminist, scholars and activists from all over the world chimed in with their thirstiest feminist tweets, and here are my top ten.
As these tweets show, it turns out that sexting like a feminist is sexy, funny – and horny. Yet, it never loses sight of its commitment to equity and justice.

What you need to know
- Priority will be given to activities that facilitate and encourage connection and interaction among participants. If your activity can be held online or hybrid (connecting participants on-site and online), please consider how to generate genuine engagement and active participation from online participants.
- We encourage cross-movement, cross-regional and inter-generational encounters, dialogues and exchanges.
- Please design your activity in a way that allows flexibility in the number of participants. While a few activities may be limited to smaller groups, the majority will need to accommodate larger numbers.
- If your activity fits a number of formats or none, you will be able to indicate as such on the application form.
Languages in which you can submit your activity
- Languages for Applications: Applications will be accepted in English, French, Spanish, Thai and Arabic.
- Languages at the Forum: Simultaneous interpretation will be provided at the Forum Plenary Sessions in English, French, Spanish, Thai, and Arabic as well as ISL (International Sign Language) and possibly more. For all other activities, interpretation will be offered in some––but not all––of these languages, and possibly others, such as Swahili and Portuguese.

The 61st Human Right Council takes place amid, what has been called by the UN Secretary-General, an ‘imminent financial collapse.’ Powerful member states’ refuse to pay up their contributions to the UN: the United States alone accounts for 95% of the USD 1.6 billion shortfall in the UN’s 2025 budget. This continues to erode the Council’s ability to deliver on its mandate, limiting its capacity to support human rights mechanisms, monitor accountability, and respond to global crises.
This lack of accountability is starkly obvious with the global surge of military spending and ongoing genocides in Gaza, Sudan and Myanmar. From the farcical “Gaza Peace Plan,” and unbridled imperial intervention in Venezuela, led by the US, the mask that “there is just no money” for people- social support, healthcare, education is off.

Ces cinq dernières années, ont été particulièrement significatives pour l’AWID.
Nous avons contribué à d'importantes victoires, telles que l'élargissement du paysage du financement des droits des femmes grâce à des travaux de recherche et de plaidoyer novateurs de grande envergure. En même temps, nous avons connu des revers dévastateurs, notamment les assassinats de femmes défenseures des droits humains telles que Berta Caceres au Honduras, Gauri Lankesh en Inde et Marielle Franco au Brésil, ainsi que la montée de la mobilisation anti-droits dans les espaces voués aux droits humains.
Il y a cinq ans, nous nous sommes engagées à renforcer notre mouvement en produisant des savoirs sur les tendances des mouvements anti-droits, ainsi que sur des questions avec lesquelles les féministes s'engagent plus rarement, tels les flux financiers illicites. Nous avons mené des plaidoyers côte à côte avec nos partenaires du mouvement, renforçant ainsi l'activisme intergénérationnel et celui des jeunes féministes et élargissant la protection globale des défenseuses des droits humains. Arrivées au terme de notre plan stratégique, nous sommes fières de nos réalisations et de notre évolution en tant qu’organisation. Nous terminons l'année 2017 avec un engagement, des idées et un apprentissage renouvelés pour poursuivre la lutte à venir !
